If you already have a diploma

Have you already obtained a diploma and want to know what this means for the tuition fees of your next programme? The Dutch government subsidises one Bachelor's and one Master's degree for students who are nationals of an EU/EEA country, Suriname, or Switzerland. For your first Bachelor's or Master's programme, you will therefore pay the (lower) statutory tuition fee.

Second bachelor's or master's programme

If you are pursuing a second Bachelor's or Master's programme, the (higher) institutional tuition fee generally applies. This is because the university does not receive government funding for this. However, some exceptions apply, which are listed below.

Equivalent bachelor's degree
  • a university or university of applied sciences Bachelor's diploma
  • a university of applies sciences final degree
  • a university doctorate degree of which you passed the final exam
Equivalent master's degree
  • a university or university of applied sciences Master's programme of which you passed the final exam
  • a university doctorate degree of which you passed the final exam
