Board grants

The student counsellor of your programme determines how much time each board position requires. For student members of the University Council, this is defined in the regulations. The expected time investment gives an indication of possible study delays and thus determines the amount of the board grant.

The board grant consists of two parts:

1. A basic amount that depends on the time investment and that is related to the Standard Amount Higher Education as stated in art. 3.18 Wsf 2000 according to the standard of 1 January 2024. Everyone will receive this payment.
2. In addition to the basic amount, you can also receive a supplement for up to 50% of the tuition fees that you will pay in the 2024-2025 academic year. The percentage depends on the time investment.

There are three types of tuition fees:

• Statutory tuition fees; this supplement is paid at the same time as the basic amount.
• Increased statutory tuition fees for students of the UCU, UCR and PPE bachelor's programmes; this supplement is paid at the same time as the basic amount.
• Institutional tuition fees; (part of) this supplement is only paid at the end of the academic year if you have actually incurred a study delay due to exercising the administrative function. This also applies to students who formally had to pay the institutional tuition fees due to a transitional arrangement, but for whom the statutory tuition fee is charged. In that case, they will receive compensation for the statutory tuition fee.

Students who receive a supplementary grant from DUO in the 2024-2025 academic year, will receive a supplement that depends on the time invested. In this case, the student counsellor or the Executive Board will request:

• A copy of the message from DUO stating the amount of the supplementary grant in September 2024. You received this message in October or November 2023;
• A statement from Student Services. You will receive this statement if you email a scan of the message from DUO to bestuursbeurs@uu.nl. In the subject line, state: bestuursbeurs medezeggenschap 24-25 en verklaring aanvullende beurs DUO
