You should always follow the guidelines of the hospital or institution where you are doing your internship or residency. If you're doing your internship or residency at another hospital/institution, you will need to follow the policy of that hospital/institution. We advise you to talk to someone from that institution to find out what to do. If you are unable to come to an agreement with the institution, contact the Student Desk (STIP) of your faculty.

Internships and residencies at UMC Utrecht

If you are doing an internship or residency at the UMC Utrecht, keep an eye on the UMC Utrecht Connect page. Your course coordinator will also send you a weekly email with the latest information and will contact you when you can start.

Master students in Medicine from the years 2 and 3 can gradually start their residency again. Of course under certain conditions to protect the students and the patients. The course coordinator will contact the students who can start.

The scientific internships for Biomedical Sciences, Clinical Health Sciences, Medicine and Master's degrees of the Graduate School of Life Sciences can also be partly restarted.

Because of the coronavirus, some students have had to discontinue their scientific internships at the UMC Utrecht and for whom there is no replacement assignment yet. A large part of this group now restarts first. A maximum of 30% of this group may be present per day. The aim is for as many students as possible to resume their internship and to be able to attend the lab for an average of 30%. Department heads determine together with the course coordinator which students can restart their internship and how the available 30% can be used.
