I've had one big dream ever since I was little: Becoming a veterinarian. That is why I enrolled in the degree programme of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. Unfortunately, I already had some personal problems for some time back then, which became worse during the degree programme. For years, I've had to deal with mood swings, fears, concentration problems and other psychological problems that, despite me already being in therapy, were still very active. That didn't mix with my serious degree programme, which is why I decided to temporarily quit in February 2012.
In 2016, I restarted and I was more motivated than ever. I immediately looked into how Utrecht University could support me, because my problems are still there (in part) and they hinder me daily. Currently, I have additional time for my exams due to my concentration problems and the Study Advisor and me regularly look into what help could benefit me.
After the survey that took place last year was over ('Studying with a disability'), I was asked to join this platform. With my voice in this, I would like to help (future) students with practical matters, among other things (such as what can be arranged), but also by sharing my experiences. With this, I hope to contribute to a University that is as accessible as possible to all students, so everyone can realise their dreams!
