Your UU-Gmail account will be converted to a Solis email account on 1 August 2020

Students are currently using UU-Gmail to receive emails from Utrecht University. However, as of 1 August 2020 this will be converted into a Solis account. The Solis account is based on the Microsoft Office 365 suite. Your email address will remain the same, but your inbox and the environment in which you view your emails will look slightly different.

Where will you be viewing your email?
 

  • From 1 August 2020 on, any new emails sent to you will no longer appear in your UU-Gmail account, nor will you be able to send any emails from there. Instead, you should log into your new Solis inbox at https://outlook.office.com.
  • All emails sent to you before 1 August 2020 will stay in your old UU-Gmail inbox. You will be able to access your old UU-Gmail inbox until 1 March 2021.

What should you do after 1 August?
 

  • The emails in your old UU-Gmail inbox will not be forwarded to your new Solis email account automatically. You can transfer them yourself using the step-by-step guide at https://manuals.uu.nl/en/office365forstudents. We recommend you do so as soon as possible after 1 August, so that you can access all your emails in the same location.
  • If you use any other parts of the Google Suite (such as G-drive), you may also have data stored there that you will have to convert before 1 March 2021. For information on how to do so, visit https://manuals.uu.nl/en/office365forstudents.

Would you like to switch to a Solis email account sooner?

Why are we switching from UU-Gmail to Solis?

There are two main reasons for this. Members of staff are already using Solis and Office 365. Offering the same services to both staff and students will make it easier for them to cooperate. Additionally, the university is always working to improve data security. Switching to Solis will allow us to better protect our students' email.
