Update 24 January: Logging into UU applications (MyWorkplace) from outside UU campuses once again possible - (problems solved)

Update: 24 January

You can once again use UU applications (MyWorkplace and RemoteApps) from outside UU campuses. The security update for the Citrix environment has successfully been implemented. As a result, the restrictions have been lifted.

Update: 22 January

On Friday, January 24th, an update will be tested for the Citrix environment. This update should eliminate the problems related to the recent safety risks. Please keep an eye on this news item for further information.

Update: 20 January

The problem with the additional login screen in MyWorkplace has been fixed. It is also no longer necessary to delete any cookies.

Update: 18 January

Utrecht University (UU) has decided to further restrict remote access to a number of UU applications. These applications are temporarily only accessible from computers or laptops via wifi (eduroam) on the UU campuses. This additional measure has been taken in response to the security risks (security leakage) of the so-called Citrix servers and the advice of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).

What does this mean for you?

You can temporarily use MyWorkplace (the digital study and learning environment for students and teachers) or RemoteApps (applications for employees) only from computers or laptops via wifi (eduroam) on UU campuses. Other systems such as Blackboard, Osiris, Office 365 and e-mail will remain available remotely. These systems are accessed in a different manner and do not contain the security vulnerability as described. It is expected that Citrix will have solved the problem before the end of the month.

Additional login screen and/or cookies

Do you get to see an extra login screen with a blue background when starting an application in MyWorkplace? Then please enter your UU email address and password. Note that logging on using your Solis-id does not work in this additional login screen. You may also have to delete the cookies from your internet browser.

Newsitem of 17 January:

Utrecht University (UU) is temporarily limiting the access from abroad to a number of UU applications. This restrictive measure has been taken in response to the security risks (security breach) of the so-called Citrix servers.

What does this mean for you?

It is temporarily not possible to use MyWorkplace (the digital study and learning environment for students and teachers) or RemoteApps (applications for employees) from abroad. Other systems, such as Blackboard, Osiris, Office 365 and e-mail, will remain available from abroad. These systems are accessed in a different manner and do not contain the security vulnerability as described.

Advice National Cyber Security Centre

Utrecht University is following the advice of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) of the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security. If this advice changes, the university will follow and inform you on this. We expect that the restrictive measures can be disestablished around the end of January once the breach in the Citrix servers has been solved.

Changed login screen MyWorkplace

Do you use MyWorkplace from the Netherlands? Then the login screen of MyWorkplace will look different from tonight on. You will see a small window where you can log in using your Solis-id or UU-email address and password as usual. Please read more about this on the student website and the intranet.
