Transparency research collaboration fossil industry

Utrecht University has published an overview of current research collaborations with companies in the fossil industry. This publication is driven from the desire to map out to what extent and in what areas Utrecht University collaborates with the fossil industry. It is also a response to the call from society for transparency about ties with the fossil industry.

In current research projects, the condition for collaboration with the fossil industry is that the research focuses on developing knowledge to accelerate the energy transition, phase out fossil fuels as soon as possible and/or avoid further CO2 emissions.

To get the full overview, the faculty Research Support Offices (RSOs) were asked to provide information about the ongoing research collaborations. The purpose of this overview is to be as transparent as possible about these types of collaborations, both internally and externally, as we feel this suits the character of our university.
