30 January 2020

Starting 30 January, mobile working via VPN will require two-factor authentication

Utrecht University is constantly striving to improve the security of its data. To that end, we are also taking steps to enhance the security of mobile working (at home or from another location) via VPN. From Thursday 30 January 2020, you will therefore need two-factor authentication (2FA) to log into AnyConnect VPN. It’s possible that the way you access your files on the U and O drives will change as well.

How does this impact you?

  • Starting 30 January, when you make use of AnyConnect VPN, you will log in not only with your Solis ID and password but using 2FA as well.
  • Are you accustomed to accessing files stored on the U or O drive via solisvpn.uu.nl? From 30 January, this functionality will no longer be available on that website. Instead, access to these drives will be arranged via AnyConnect VPN as well.

What action should you take?

  • Are you already accustomed to using AnyConnect VPN? In that case, you will need to go to the sign-in window for AnyConnect VPN and replace the text solisvpn.uu.nl with vpn.uu.nl Below, you will see where to do this.

Adjust your settings before 30 January

Go ahead and change your settings to the new method of working. You can start using this method right away. The existing method of working will be discontinued on 30 January.
