On Thursday, May 28th 2015, 15 students from the society A-Eskwadraat took a look at the Directorate of Information & Technology Services, the IT department of the Utrecht University.
The students wanted to go on an excursion to learn more about how IT supports education and research at the UU. The program included a tour of the university data center, a tour of the new education center, and presentations at the workplace of Education Systems, Support, System Integration and Infrastructure.
Students were given an impression of the daily practice, for example, an IT manager, functional application administrator, developer, manager or project leader. The day ended with a networking reception in the Basket where students could switch informal knowledge with IT professionals. "The excursion to the ITS department was very interesting. It was nice to see in practice how such large networks and systems as the UU has are established and maintained. There's more to it than you might think at first .We also felt welcome. In short, it was a successful afternoon! "said student Maaike Maas A-Eskwadraat.
