Replacement of multifunction printers at Utrecht University in August (including schedule)

In August, all Xerox multifunction printers across Utrecht University will be replaced with new Canon printers. This follows a European procurement process in which Canon was selected as the supplier.

When will it happen in your building?

The replacement will take place in phases by location. The schedule has now been announced, and the most up-to-date version can be found at the bottom of this page.

Printing locations after the replacement

Not all existing printers will be replaced. The total number of printers is being reduced because printing volumes have steadily declined in recent years. Based on usage data and in consultation with faculties and corporate offices, an assessment has been made of which printers are still required. This ensures that printers remain available in practical locations while reducing unnecessary energy and material consumption. As a result, a printer may be relocated or removed after the replacement. Where this occurs, we will place a poster in advance with information about the change and the nearest available printer.

Transition period

During the replacement programme, old and new printers will temporarily be in use alongside each other. You will be able to continue printing, copying and scanning throughout the replacement period. Only on the day(s) when printers in your immediate area are being replaced or relocated may availability be temporarily more limited.
