Public transport strike on Wednesday 24 June
On Wednesday 24 June, 2026, there will be a strike in public transport in the early morning. Employees working for trains, buses, trams, and metros will not start work until 08:00 that day. As a result, there will be no public transport running in the early morning.
Teaching continues, as do exams
Teaching at Utrecht University will continue as usual during public transportation strikes. This also applies to Wednesday, June 24: classes and exams will go ahead as scheduled. This has been coordinated with all faculties.
Attendance
If you are absent from classes with a compulsory attendance requirement due to the strike, you can invoke the strike as a reason, and the attendance requirement will be waived.
However, this does not apply if you have an exam or other form of assessment: the strike is not a valid reason for absence, and you will therefore not be granted an extra opportunity to take the exam.
