Master History and Philosophy of Science (HPS) has the happiest students of the UU, according to the National Student Survey 2022. The student satisfaction score was 4.8 on a 5-point scale, the highest of all 81 Master programmes of Utrecht University. The Master has ranked among the top 3 of the UU for several years in a row. On 28 June Vice Dean of Education Gerard Barkema personally congratulated the team on the achievement.

“The reason I am here is to celebrate that you were top of the top this year in the NSE results. My compliments for that. You always score high but this year it was the highest of all.”

‘Inspiring dedication’

Tanne Bloks, student member of the Education Advisory Committee (OAC), comments on the NSE score: “The dedication with which teachers give their classes during this trajectory is inspiring.”

Programme coordinator David Baneke is also very proud: “I think students appreciate the flexibility we offer. Also, we have highly motivated students, so it is easy to be dedicated to teaching. They also come with great initiatives to improve the programme. For example, students have started discussions about diversifying the curriculum, which has led to changes in several core courses”
