New courses: Dutch as a second language for international students

Utrecht University aims to support its international students in developing their Dutch language skills. From September 2026, the university will offer extracurricular Dutch as a second language (NT2) courses for international students. 

Proficiency in Dutch is important for students’ personal and professional development. By supporting international  students in learning the language of the country in which they are studying, Utrecht University  hopes that students will feel more at home at the university and in the Netherlands, and that they will find employment on the Dutch labour market after graduation. 

Social Dutch

The programme In’to UU will offer four courses Social Dutch at different levels. Upon completion of all four courses, students will have reached level A2. Students won’t get credits for these courses. The courses will be free of charge and will start in the second week of term 1 (week 38).
