Introduction of two-factor authentication (2FA) for Office 365 postponed

The previously announced additional security for Office 365 (the collective name for Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive etc.) by means of two-factor authentication (2FA) has been postponed. This modification will not take place on Monday 13 July, but has been postponed until later this year. This means that you can continue working with Office 365 as before for the time being, and that nothing will change yet.

The delay will allow us to implement various technical solutions to ensure that 2FA works well for everyone and on every platform. For example, recent tests showed that Microsoft Teams does not always work well on all devices in combination with 2FA. Microsoft expects to resolve this issue later this year.

Information security remains paramount

During the postponement, we will intensify the monitoring of the security of our IT systems. In addition, work to secure other systems with 2FA will continue unabated. Please also remember to keep your systems and applications up to date, as new versions often offer better protection. Keep an eye on the intranet to find out more about the latest developments.
