Cyber security exercise on Thursday 12 March (6 p.m. to 9 p.m.): possible network interruptions

On Thursday 12 March, a digital security exercise will take place between 18:00 and 21:00. During this exercise, we will simulate a DDoS attack* on the UU network. We do this to make our organisation more resilient to digital threats. In recent times, several education and research institutions have been targeted by such attacks. With this exercise we learn what the effects of a DDoS attack are, so that we can improve our defence for the future.

During the exercise, everything connected to the UU network may experience some disruption. In particular, Wi-Fi connections such as eduroam and Utrecht University may show interruptions or outages. Other IT systems or sites, such as Osiris or the university’s websites, may also be temporarily less accessible, or you may be unable to log in. It may work again after a few minutes; if so, please try again. If you experience unexpected issues during the exercise that are not resolved after a few minutes, please contact the IT Servicedesk.
