Almere data center fire - impact on Faculty of Medical Sciences

A fire at a data centre in Almere has caused problems with Utrecht University’s network, applications and websites. This is having a significant impact on the day-to-day work, research and teaching of and for staff and students

In this message, we explain the situation regarding education at the Faculty of Medical Sciences. Please note: this differs from the UU's communication.

  • All planned education taking place tomorrow in the Hijmans van Bergh Building will proceed. This also applies to exams taking place in this building.
  • Education taking place tomorrow in other buildings of Utrecht University (such as the Ruppert Building and Androclus Building) will not take place.
  • To avoid overloading of UU systems (such as OSIRIS, Scorion, Brightspace, MyTimetable), we request that you do not use these applications until further notice.

We regret the situation and will keep you informed of further developments. Should this situation have consequences for education scheduled for next week, we will inform you about this over the weekend, if necessary, via the same channels as tonight.

For course-specific questions or problems, such as submission deadlines, we request that you contact the coordinator of the relevant subject or course. Preferably, do this in consultation with the year representatives so that questions can be asked simultaneously.

We hope this provides you with sufficient information.
