Additional security for university e-mail

The UU is continuously working on the security of IT systems. This also applies to improving the SPAM-filters of the university e-mail. With this, we want to minimise the chance of phishing, for example.

From 17 January, an extra warning will be displayed when you receive e-mail from someone you have never e-mailed with before (a so-called 'first contact e-mail'). We then advise you to be extra vigilant about the legitimacy of the email. This message looks like this:

Regularly check your 'SPAM' folder

In addition, we recommend that you check the 'SPAM' folder of your e-mail box on a regular basis (e.g. once a month). It can occasionally happen that a legitimate e-mail is wrongly marked as SPAM.
