Rules ChatGPT

It is now common knowledge that ChatGPT can generate accurate texts based on a query. Other AI tools, such as Google's Bard, also offer similar capabilities. We are currently investigating the possibilities and risks of these tools within the university.

It is understood that using ChatGPT (or similar tools) to generate texts and submit them as your own work for a test (such as a thesis or dissertation) is considered fraud. Such use is therefore not allowed. It is essential that you yourself are able to process knowledge and write a convincing text about it. Please also read the principles below.

Guideline

  1. The use of AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Bard and similar tools) will be regarded as fraud if a student uses them to generate texts and presents them as his/her own work for a summative or formative test such as an essay, thesis or dissertation (or parts thereof), cf. art. 5.15 section 1 OER-BA / art. 5.16 section OER-MA.
  2. The obligation to be actively and prepared to attend teaching (Art. 4.5 OER-BA/4.3 OER-MA) is deemed not to have been met if a student has only (or predominantly) used an AI tool such as ChatGPT (or a similar tool) for preparation and presents the preparations as his/her own work. If there is a suspicion that a student makes structural use of it, the lecturer has the authority to exclude the student from further participation in education cf. art. 4.5 section 3 OER-BA (art. 4.3 section 3 OER-MA). In incidental cases, the lecturer may register the student as “not present”.
