Courses and minors for non-U.S.E. students and free movers

When you are not a student of the Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.), it is possible to take economic courses at U.S.E. We offer courses from a real world perspective and in an international environment. Economics in Utrecht analyses economic issues with the insights of other fields such as Geography, Law, Social Sciences and Applied Data Science for Economists. By using this approach to study societal issues such as the emergence of social media or the development of unemployment in the Netherlands, you will learn to see these issues from different perspectives and will learn to think in terms of solutions and consequences.

All the courses are offered in English. Please visit the Course Catalogue for more information on which U.S.E courses are open to free movers. Make sure that you always read the entry requirements and course content.

Please note:

Approval of the Graduate School is needed if you want to follow a Master's course. Courses on Master level will be restrictive; in general, you can only choose courses that are in the same or very similar field of studies. To request approval you are required to send an email to the Graduate School: graduateschool.use@uu.nl.
In cases of oversubscription, we will prioritize degree-seeking students. You can be denied enrolment into courses due to insufficient background knowledge or lack of places available. If this happens, we will always do our best to find suitable alternatives.

Minors
In the academic year 2024-2025, U.S.E. offers the following minors to non-Economics students of Utrecht University:

Economics (required for admission to a Master’s programme at U.S.E.)
Business Economics
Entrepreneurship
Social Entrepreneurship / Sociaal Ondernemerschap

Please note: Enrolment is only possible during the regular enrolment periods. It is NOT possible to enrol during the 'late enrolment days'.

Fees
Fees are applicable to students who are not enrolled at a Dutch university or a Dutch University of Applied Sciences (hbo).

The fee for following a Bachelor's course (7.5 EC) is € 750,- including exam in 2024-2025.
The fee for following a Master's course (5 EC) is € 2.500,- including exam in 2024-2025.

You will receive an invoice from our Financial Administration. Make sure you pay in time, otherwise your enrolment will not be completed.

Until two weeks before the start of the course you can cancel your enrolment with full course fee reimbursement.
Cancellation after this you will undo your right on course fee reimbursement.

You can enrol through the application form WO students (available 3 June – 21 June 2024 for semester 1 academic year 2024-2025).
I am a student from a Dutch University of Applied Sciences (HBO):
You can enrol through the application form HBO students (available 3 June – 21 June 2024 for semester 1 academic year 2024-2025).

Are you not enrolled at a Dutch University (of Applied Sciences) and do you want to follow single courses and/or a minor at Utrecht University School of Economics?

You can enrol through the application form single courses/minor (available 3 June – 21 June 2024 for semester 1 academic year 2024-2025).
*Please note, only possible for students with an EU-nationality. Also note that there are fees involved.

Do you want to register for courses in order to apply for the Educational Master?

Please send an overview of your courses to studentenadministratie.use@uu.nl. Note that there are fees involved for following courses.
