Rules during exams

During an exam, there are certain rules that students must follow. Invigilators are present for all questions and their instructions must be followed. For substantive questions, ask the invigilator to contact the teacher.

NOTE: without valid ID, students cannot participate in the exam. Students must place their ID with a clear photo on the table for the invigilator to check.

Start and end

  • After the first 30 minutes of the exam, latecomers are not allowed to enter.
  • Students already in the hall cannot leave until after 30 minutes.
  • If the examiner is aware of extraordinary circumstances (e.g., train delays), they may extend the late entry time to an hour.
  • If the entry time is extended, the time students can leave the hall will also be delayed accordingly.

Toilet

It is only possible to visit the toilet after the first 30 minutes of the exam with permission of the invigilator

Permitted items during an exam

Fraud

If the invigilator notices fraudulent behavior, they must inform the student, the examiner, and confiscate the evidence. The examiner will then:

  • Complete an exam incident report
  • Submit the report and evidence to the Board of Examiners' secretary

The Board of Examiners will take further necessary actions.

Handing in the exam

When handing in the exam, make sure you have put your name, student number and signature on your work.
As proof of handing in the work you will receive a receipt (e.g. second front page).

Excluding a student

The invigilator may exclude a student from further participation in the exam if the student:

  • Cannot produce any ID
  • Is using a mobile phone or other communication equipment
  • Have such equipment switched on
  • Fails to comply with the instructions of the invigilator

Being excluded means that the student will receive a grade 1 for the exam.
