Graduation

You can graduate once all your study results are in Osiris and you meet all the requirements of your programme. When this is the case, you will automatically receive an email from the Board of Examiners. Want to know if you're ready to graduate? Check the steps on this page.

Step 1: Check if you meet the graduation requirements

Check the following steps to make sure you're ready to graduate:

Step 2: Approval from the Board of Examiners

  • On (or by) the last working day of the month, the Board of Examiners will send an e-mail regarding graduation. Make sure your personal e-mail address in Osiris is correct, if necessary you can update it if necessary here.
  • If you have responded to the graduation e-mail within the two-week period by completing the graduation form, the examination committee will check your examination programme, set your examination and register the examination date in OSIRIS.

Didn’t receive a message on the selection date?
If you haven’t received a message by 12:00 PM, but have met all the components of your examination program, report this to the examencommissie.rechten@uu.nl by 1:00 PM on the selection date.

Step 3: Automatic Graduation or Requesting a Postponement

If you do not request a postponement or return the form from the graduation notification within two weeks, the Board of Examiners will process your graduation file after this period. This means you will graduate on the date indicated in the graduation notification, you will not be able to participate in the diploma ceremony, and you can collect your diploma at the Student Information Desk once you have received notification that it is ready.

If you want to postpone your graduation, you must submit a request for postponement to the Board of Examiners within two weeks after being informed by e-mail about your graduation.

Step 4: Collect Your Diploma

If you want to graduate, the graduation notification will include a link to a web form. You have two weeks, unless otherwise specified in the e-mail, to submit the form. By submitting the form, you initiate your graduation process. You can choose to collect your diploma at the Student Information Desk or participate in the next official diploma ceremony for your master’s programme.

Note: If you wish to pursue one of the other programmes within the European Law programme immediately after completing one of the programmes, you must request a postponement of graduation from the Board of Examiners.

Step 5: What should I arrange after graduation?

Once you have received your graduation date, you need to arrange the following:

Alumni networks

Do you want to keep contact with alumni of Utrecht University?

  • The Utrecht University Fund is the University’s alumni organisation. The fund runs events and activities for graduates of Utrecht University and supports the student experience by funding activities by and for students.
