The Utrecht University site has all sorts of information on how to prepare for your arrival at our university and in Utrecht. This information is especially curated for international students and also includes information on learning Dutch.
As soon as you have successfully enrolled and the payment of your tuition fees has been arranged, you are issued a student card. It lists your degree programme and the period for which you are enrolled. You need your student card in order to prove you are enrolled at UU, for example when you wish to use our facilities. At exams, you also need a valid ID to be able to identify yourself.
Where can you find your student card?
Your student card is in the MyUU app. If you do not have a compatible smartphone, you can print out a copy of your enrolment in Osiris. You can always access your student card when offline too, provided you have logged in to the app at least once. Make sure you have version 1.8 of the app; this procedure still does not work properly in older versions.
You log into the app with your Solis ID. The app is available to download from:
If you do not see a passport photo on your student card, go to Osiris and upload your photograph there. Please note: the size has to be 100 KB or less. Read more about uploading your passport photo (PDF).
Student card not visible in the app?
Have you received the confirmation email indicating you are enrolled but cannot see your student card in the MyUU app? Or have you received no email at all? If so, please contact Student Services. Remember to first check your spam folder, and make sure your email address is up-to-date.
When exactly will you receive your student card?
You will receive your student card when your enrolment is successful. In other words:
- you have submitted a (re)enrolment request
- you meet all admission requirements
- payment of your tuition fees has been arranged
If everything is in order, you will receive a confirmation email from the Central Student Administration within a week and you will be officially enrolled. The confirmation email will state that your (re)enrolment is complete and that your student card is waiting for you in the MyUU app. You should therefore keep a close eye on your email account and the spam folder. You will not receive communication by post!

If you have a disability or chronic illness, Utrecht University will support you as much as possible in order to ensure that you complete your degree programme successfully. Examples of a disability / chronic illness include:
- visual, auditory or motor impairments;
- ADD / ADHD;
- an autistic spectrum disorder;
- chronic and psychological disorders (e.g. chronic depression, Crohn’s disease, diabetes, asthma, rheumatism etc.).
How to request examination arrangements or accommodations?
You can submit a request for examination arrangements or accommodations via OSIRIS Student (tab Cases > adjustments or accommodations). An example of an accommodation is extra time when sitting exams.
After you have opened your case in Osiris, you will receive a confirmation and the possibility to arrange a meeting with one of the study advisors.
What kind of support does the university offer?
The study advisor can provide you with the exact details of the options available to you. These will be laid down in a contract.
If you are delayed in your studies as a consequence of circumstances beyond your control (e.g. disability), you may be eligible for financial support.

Studying without Limitations is a peer to peer group for students with a disability. The members of the Platform are experts by experience, and are happy to share their knowledge with you.
ECU’92 is the study association for all students at Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.). First of all, ECU’92 organises the introduction week and weekend, so you will definitely meet us there. Becoming a member of ECU’92 gives you a substantial discount on your books. Besides this, ECU’92 gives you the opportunity to join social activities, such as parties, sports tournaments and trips, and to get to know your fellow students. If you are interested in broadening your knowledge, you can join our content events, such as the Economic Conference Utrecht or USE Leader Lectures. To bridge the gap between the university and your career, we organise the Economic Career Day as well as inhousedays at companies and institutions. Ambitious students should apply for our Talent Pool; this selected group of students receives trainings and workshops to prepare for the labour market.

Lecturers are the first people for you to contact if you have questions or uncertainties about a course.
- Study Advisor
The Study Advisor is a confidential advisor and acts as a mediator between students and lecturers. They can help you with problems involving academic motivation, delays, exemptions, absence from exams, studying abroad, a study plan that does not follow the conventional routes etc.
- Student Information Desk Economics
For study-related questions and information about practical matters involving education.
Other types of supervision
- Student Psychologist
A student psychologist can help you resolve personal and study-related problems that can interfere with your academic progress.
- Skills lab
At Skills Lab, you can take training courses and the like to sharpen your academic skills (better and more effective study, research or communication).
- Career Services
The Career Officer can you get acquainted with the job market. This is where you can go for career training, an assessment of your application letter or CV, an individual consultation, and more.
