You must complete your Research Master's programme by writing a Research Master's thesis that is based on original research. A Research Master's thesis is a scholarly text in which you are expected to contribute, on the basis of independent research, to a debate within your discipline.

When do you write your Master's thesis?

You write your thesis in the second year of the programme. Go to the thesis course description


What should you demonstrate in your Master's thesis?

  • the ability to carry out your own academic research in the field of Philosphy
  • use of appropriate theories, concepts and methods as covered during the Master's programme
  • the ability to report in a way that meets academic standards


Submitting and uploading your thesis proposal and thesis

You submit your thesis proposal as well as your actual thesis via Osiris. In Osiris, you can also track your progress and the final grade will appear. Is your thesis approved? Then you have to upload the final version in the thesis archive.
