Join the study association

A study association is a community for and by students. As a member, you quickly get to know your fellow students. You can take part in all kinds of activities, such as field trips and parties. You will often get discounts on books.

AKT is the study association for Media and culture. Become a member via their website.

Purchase books for study period 1

It is wise to purchase materials from your book list on time. Preferably during the summer holidays before you start. This way, you will start off your first seminar smoothly. Below you can read what's on the list and how to purchase.

Know what to expect

Take a look at your curriculum and the year calendar. Your timetable will be online from mid-August. Try to learn more about the Binding Study Advice (BSA) in advance, so you know how many credits you need to continue your programme after the first year.

Install digital tools and login to platforms

When you start at Utrecht University, you will receive a Solis-id and e-mail address, with which you will have access to various educational platforms that are important for your studies. For example, the MyUU app, Outlook or Brightspace. The MyUU app also contains your digital student card.

Find it on students.uu.nl

The student website for Media and culture, students.uu.nl/en/hum/media-and-culture, is one of the most important digital tools during your studies. Here you will find information on, for example, your curriculum, study advisor or course registration.
