Internship
Depending on your track, you will do an internship (15 EC). On this page, you will find all the information you need to arrange and complete your internship. For more information, see the internship manual.
Step 1: Finding an internship
You are responsible for finding a suitable internship. Start on time, as the search and application process can take a long time. In the internship manual, you will find tips for the orientation and search phase and the requirements for an internship position. Contact us if you have any questions. Once you are accepted, write a draft version of the internship work plan.
Examples of internships
- Research: Universities, Netherlands Institute for Cultural Analysis (NICA), Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht
- Festivals: Café Theater Festival, Le Guess Who
- Theatre and venues: IMPAKT, TivoliVredenburg, HAU Berlin
Step 2: Getting your internship work plan approved by your supervisors
During your internship, you will have two supervisors: an internship supervisor (at your internship location) and a supervising lecturer (from your study programme). You will be told by your programme whether you are assigned to a supervising lecturer or whether you have to find your own. Your supervisors must approve your internship work plan.
Step 3: Complete your enrollment
Before you can enroll in Osiris, you must sign an internship agreement and have it signed by your internship supervisor (not your supervising lecturer).
Deliver documents to the Internship Office
You email the following documents to the Humanities Internship Office at stage.gw@uu.nl:
- The final internship work plan
- The approval form internship work plan (signed by you, your internship supervisor and your supervising lecturer)
- The original internship agreement (signed by you and your internship supervisor)
You cannot start your internship until you have handed in these documents. The Internship Office will check the submitted documents and sign the internship agreement. Then the Internship Office will register you for the internship in Osiris.
Step 4: Keeping a logbook
Keeping a logbook is highly recommended as a way to help you learn. It helps you reflect on your activities and learning goals, and is a useful source for writing your internship report. In the document ‘Appendix internship assessment form’ from your study programme, you can read whether logbooks are a compulsory part of the internship.
Assessment of your internship
Your supervising lecturer is responsible for the assessment of your internship. The internship report forms the basis of the assessment. The assessment is done using assessment forms.
There is also a final interview between the supervising lecturer and the internship supervisor. They discuss the feedback from the internship supervisor's feedback form and come to a final assessment. The supervising lecturer informs you of your final assessment. Your assessment and the number of EC are recorded in Osiris.
Assessment forms
The lecturer uses these assessment forms:
