Curriculum

Year 1 | Compulsory courses

During the first semester, in period 1 and 2, you will take six compulsory courses. They cover the fundamentals of the field, and create a common body of knowledge to build on for the electives from period 3 onwards. During the second semester you participate in the LOT Winter School (in January) as well as the LOT Summer School (in June or July).

Year 1 | Electives

In period 3 and 4 of your first year, you choose four elective courses.

MA Rotation

During the first academic year, you will also follow MA Rotation. These are weekly two-hour sessions where a variety of researchers from the Institute for Language Sciences (ILS) present their research. It is compulsory for first-year students.

Year 2

During the first semester of your second year, you choose either the 10 EC elective Team Language Science Project or 2 other electives. You also take the compulsory course Research Skills Seminar. During the second semester you do your internship and write your Research Master's thesis.
