Refer to the Course Planner for an overview of the compulsory courses that are part of the Linguistics programme.

Did you start before 2022? Then check the Linguistics Education and Examination Regulations to see which courses you will have to take.

Period 1 or 3: Capstone Course Linguistics (EV)

The Capstone Course Linguistics prepares you to write your final thesis. You will write a proposal and gain insight into the research being carried out at the university within your field of study.

Period 2, 3 or 4: Final thesis

You conclude your major with the BA Final Thesis. You determine the subject (that should be in line with the specialisation you chose in your second year) together with your individual supervisor.

Elective courses

You choose the remaining 45 EC in elective courses. As electives you can start with a minor, do an internship, go abroad or choose from a broad range of available courses. Make sure to check each course's entry requirements.
