Each year, 5 students from Utrecht can take part in the European Master’s Programme in Intercultural Communication (EMICC). This Master’s programme started in 2002 and is organised together with eight partner universities from Germany, Estonia, France, Finland, United Kingdom, Italy, Portugal and Switzerland.
During this four-month intensive English programme (30 EC), you will take classes taught by international experts and build up an international network. Your fellow students will be from various international universities, forming a diverse, intercultural and multilingual group. You will take 15 one-week courses on themes such as English as Lingua Franca, Linga Receptiva , management, human rights, globalisation and European unification, cultural anthropology, new media and intercultural training.
Multilingual track
You can do Eurocampus students as part of the Multilingual track. The compulsory programme in Utrecht is replaced by Eurocampus (30 EC).
Wish to take part?
Only degree students at one of the partner universities are allowed to participate in the Eurocampus. You will study together under the instruction of visiting teachers from the partner institutions. After the Eurocampus period, all students will return to their home universities and continue their studies there. Eurocampus period can be realized as an Erasmus+ exchange.
History
The first Eurocampus was organised in autumn 2002 and was held in Jyväskylä, Finland. After that, the Eurocampus has moved to Bayreuth, Germany (2003); Brussels, Belgium (2004); Cambridge, UK (2005); Lisbon, Portugal (2006); Lugano, Switzerland (2007); Tartu, Estonia (2008); Lugano, Switzerland (2009); Utrecht, Netherlands (2010); Castelló, Spain (2011); Coimbra, Portugal (2012); Jyväskylä, Finland (2013); Paris, France (2014); Cambridge, UK (2015); Tallinn, Estonia (2016); Urbino, Italy (2017); Coimbra, Portugal (2018), Bayreuth, Germany (2019); Jyväskylä, Finland (2021).
In autumn 2022, Eurocampus is held at the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands.
