Graduation trajectory

Note that you can only start your graduation trajectory after you have successfully completed at least 25 EC from semester I!

Your Graduation trajectory consists of 2 parts:

Master's Thesis

The Master’s thesis of Gender Studies is an individually written, academic work that is related to a particular aspect you encountered during your internship. It is professionally orientated but written for an academic context. The thesis needs to suffice therefore in all academic standards (scientific originality and significance, theoretico-methodological framework, thorough analysis of a case study), and you formulate a clear research question based on the knowledge gained throughout your studies. Importantly, the thesis should reveal knowledge and in-depth interest in how gender, ethnicity, sexuality, class and age function and intersect as social, symbolical categories within the field of study.

The writing of the thesis, which ideally has a length between 12.000 and 15.000 words, will be mentored either individually or in small groups.

Your internship will provide you with a great opportunity to become acquainted with the work field of Gender Studies and to gain concrete professional experience. The MA Gender Studies puts great emphasis and care on students' internships. Students find the opportunity to do their internship in a variety of (inter)national organizations, institutions, and research locations, from a large network that Gender Studies in Utrecht has established.
