Prepare for your arrival in Utrecht

The most important things you have to arrange are your housing and visa. Please read the information below, specifically for short-term exchange students.

Join the Welcome Week

Utrecht University wants you to feel welcome. The Welcome Week is your first introduction to the university and aims to help you get situated. Meet fellow students, get to know the city and take part in interactive workshops. 

Join the Humanities exchange orientation day

Next to the Welcome Week, your faculty organises an orientation day, specifically for exchange students. Your attendance is important and mandatory. Please check out the full programme below.

Install digital tools and login to platforms

When you start at Utrecht University, you will receive a Solis ID and e-mail address, with which you will have access to various educational platforms that are important for your studies. For example, the MyUU app, Outlook or Brightspace. The MyUU app also contains your digital student card. 

Know what to expect

Take a look at your timetable and the year calendar to plan head. Try to learn more about our policies and grading system in advance and check the course load, so you know what to expect.

Studying comes with challenges. Need support? Check Support and development. Your Study Advisor helps with personal or programme-related matters. The Student Information Desk handles practical questions. 

Studying with a disability?

Please contact your study advisor as soon as possible so that facilities can be arranged on time and you can use them right from study period 1.
