Put in a request for approval if you want to take courses that are not part of your standard study programme. You will recieve grades for these courses.
Approval courses within Utrecht University
Step 1
Go to Osiris Student > Cases > My cases > Start a new case > Request Board of Examiners. A new window will open. Make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off for the new window to open.
Step 2
Select case type Approval courses UU or SVO changes. Specify the courses that you wish to follow and indicate how you want to include these courses in your programme.
Step 3
Upload the necessary documents. If you have paper attachments, submit them to the Student Information Desk Humanities. Please include your student number on all attachments.
Note: For courses in your free space/profiling space, you do not need approval if they are courses offered within the UU. However, there should be no content overlap between courses in the profiling space and courses in the rest of your programme.
Approval courses from other Dutch or international universities
Step 1
Go to Osiris Student > Cases > My cases > Start a new case > Request Board of Examiners. A new window will open. Make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off for the new window to open.
Step 2
Select case type Approval and registration courses non UU. State the courses that you wish to follow.
Step 3
Upload course description(s), including information on the method(s) of assessment. The Board of Examiners will determine whether the courses are of sufficient academic level and verifies that they do not overlap with other courses in your study programme. If you have any paper attachments, submit them to the Student Information Desk Humanities. Please include your student number on all attachments.
Step 4
After completing the course(s), register obtained credits in Osiris by submitting your transcript listing the courses, grades and credits you. The Board of examiners only accepts original transcripts, certified copies, or digital transcripts that are emailed directly to Examensecretariaat.gw@uu.nl by the institution where you took the courses. Transcripts that you attach to the request in Cases are invalid and will not be processed.
A certified copy is a copy of the original transcript on which a stamp indicates that the copy is identical to the original. You can have a copy authenticated by the university that issued the transcript or by the Student Desk Humanities. In the latter case, bring the original transcript with you.
Have you taken any other courses than requested?
Put in a new request for approval through Osiris > Cases.
How are results converted?
Results are translated to EC using this conversion table and the information available on the transcript.
Note: Grades from foreign universities are not translated to the Dutch scale (1-10). Instead, they will be converted to the alphanumerical results Pass/Fail.
