Course registration
In the first year, you will be registered for all your courses. From your second year, you will have to register yourself via Osiris. This means you will have to register for your specialisation, minor and elective courses yourself. Follow the step-by-step plan to register, or start registration directly via Osiris.
Step 1: Check the registration period
First of all, check in which period you need to register for a course or minor. Please note! The registration periods may differ from one faculty to another. In Osiris and the course planner, you can see what the registration deadline for a course or minor is.
Registration periods HUM 2025-2026
| Study period 1 and 2 | 2 June* until 20 June |
|---|---|
| Study period 3 and 4 | 3 November* until 21 November
*From 9:00 |
Is the registration period closed, but you still want to register for a course? Then use the late enrolment period. This does carry a risk, as courses may already be full.
Late enrolment 2025-2026
| Study period 1 | 18* and 19 August |
|---|---|
| Study period 2 | 20* and 21 October |
| Study period 3 | 19* and 20 January |

*From 9:00 |
Shortly before the late enrolment period, we will publish a list of courses still available.

Step 2: Select a course
Once you know when you need to register, you can start looking at courses or minors that seem interesting to you. An overview of all courses and additional descriptions can be found in the Osiris Course Catalogue and the Course Planner.
Go to Osiris Course CatalogueGo to Course Planner
Step 3: Check the entrance requirements
After you have found an interesting course or minor, it is important to check whether you meet the entrance requirements. You can check this in Osiris and the course planner.
Step 4: Check the time slot
Once you are sure you meet the entrance requirements, it is important to check that the course does not overlap with other courses you are taking in the same study period. You can find the time slot of the course in the course description in Osiris and the course planner. Check the time slots of the courses and avoid overlapping courses in your timetable.
Choose your courses in different time slots (A to E) to avoid taking lectures, tutorials or exams at the same time.
| time/day | Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday |

| 19:15-22:00 | E1 | E2 | E3 | E4 |
Step 5: Registration or deregistration
Make sure you register for the course or minor on time. Go to Osiris and find the course you want to register for. Go to 'Enrol' in the left menu and go through the steps.
The Course planner can show you which groups of students are guaranteed placement. Placement is guaranteed if the course is part of your exam programme or if your registration for your specialisation or Minor has been completed before enrolling in the course. In other cases, you will be put on a waiting list. For the remaining slots in the course, lots are drawn among the students on the waiting list.
If you have been waitlisted, you may want to enrol in a back-up course. If you are accepted into your first choice, you can deregister from your back-up choice. On 3 December we will let you know if you have been placed.

Some courses have limited capacity. In these cases there is a maximum to the number of participants allowed in the course.
If you have been put on a waiting list for a specific course, that course has priority rules. Please check the course description if you are part of a prioritised group.
If so, check in Osiris if your exam programme (minor, specialisation) has been properly registered. If that is not the case, please contact the Student Information Desk to find out what needs to be done.
If not, you have been correctly placed on the waiting list for that course. If any slots remain unfilled, lots are drawn to determine which students can enter.
If you are put on the waiting list for a priority-rules course, we recommend you register for a back-up course. Should you not be drawn in for the priority-rules course you can take the back-up course instead. If you have not registered for a back-up course you can still do so during the late enrolment period.
If you are put on the waiting list for a course, we recommend that you register for a back-up course. When you are drawn in the priority-rules course, we urgently request you deregister from the back-up course.
Registration for minor or specialisation
Please note: If you register for a minor or specialisation, you must register for both the individual courses and the minor or specialisation itself.
- For specific information about a minor, go to the minor you want to take and look under 'Application and enrolment'.
- First, you register via Osiris for the entire minor. You only need to do this once, you do not need to re-register for each study period.
- Does your minor start in study period 1 or 2? You can register from 1 May until the end of the course registration period in June.
- Does your minor start in study period 3 or 4? You can register from 1 October until the end of the course registration period in November.
- Then you also register via Osiris for the individual courses of your minor:
- For the courses in study period 1 and 2 during the registration period in June.
- For the courses in study period 3 and 4 during the registration period in November.
- If a minor includes a course with priority rules, this order of registration is particularly important: first for the minor, then for the course. If you register for the course first, you will be put on the waiting list and may be excluded.
- At the end of your first year, you choose a specialisation.
- First, you register for the entire specialisation via Osiris (under the heading 'Enrolment' > 'Specialisation'). This can be done from 1 May until the end of the course registration period.
- Then you also register via Osiris for the individual courses of your specialisation:
- For the courses in study period 1 and 2 during the registration period in June.
- For the courses in study period 3 and 4 in November.
- If a specialisation includes a course with priority rules, this order of registration is particularly important: first for the specialisation, then for the course. If you register for the course first, you will be put on the waiting list and may be excluded.
Have you registered for a course that, on second thoughts, you do not want to take? Then deregister as soon as possible so that a place becomes available for a fellow student.
How do you deregister?
You can deregister via Osiris:
- Enrol >
- My enrolments >
- Select course >
- In the course details, click the Disenrol course button at the top. This button is only visible until the first week of the study period.
It is not possible to deregister after the first week of the study period in which the course is taught. An ND (not participated) will then appear in your file. An ND will not appear on your study progress review.
