A Master's thesis is an academic report in which you make an independent contribution to research within the field of Arts and Society. One of the possibilities is to combine your Master's thesis with your internship.

When do you write your Master's thesis?

You write your thesis in the second semester (study periods 3 and 4). Go to the thesis course description


What should you demonstrate in your Master's thesis?

  • the ability to carry out your own academic research in the field of Arts and Society
  • use of appropriate theories, concepts and methods as covered during the Master's programme
  • the ability to report in a way that meets academic standards

Thesis requirements

The thesis should be written in correct and clear English. It has a length of 12000-15000 words (excluding notes and bibliography).The individual thesis trajectory is supervised by a staff member of the programme. The thesis will be evaluated by the supervisor and a second assessor appointed by the Programme Coordinator.

Submitting and uploading your thesis proposal and thesis

You submit your thesis proposal as well as your actual thesis via Osiris. In Osiris, you can also track your progress and the final grade will appear. Is your thesis approved? Then you have to upload the final version in the thesis archive.
