Master's thesis

A Master's thesis is an academic report in which you make an independent contribution to research within the field of Applied Musicology. It is possible to combine your internship with the Master's thesis, but you can also pick a topic from courses in the first semester.

When do you write your Master's thesis?

You write your thesis in the second semester (study periods 3 and 4). Go to the thesis course description


What should you demonstrate in your Master's thesis?

  • the ability to carry out your own academic research in the field of Applied Musicology 
  • use of appropriate theories, concepts and methods as covered during the Master's programme
  • the ability to report in a way that meets academic standards

Submitting and uploading your thesis

You submit your thesis proposal as well as your actual thesis via Osiris. In Osiris, you can also track your progress and the final grade will appear. Is your thesis approved? Then you have to upload the final version in the thesis archive.
