Study paths

During the first term of your programme you choose the contents of your study path, together with your Programme Coordinator

  • The first semester (‘Ensemble’) offers two in-class study periods in which you jointly follow compulsory courses and electives. The courses are grouped by topics (‘Musicological Fundamentals’ versus ‘Music, Media and the Infrastructure’), while the programme also offers hand-on training in a pressure cooker style (‘Musical Nat Labs’).
  • The second semester (‘Solo’) consist of two study periods with individual tracks in which you perform your internship and write your thesis.

Compulsory courses

In study period 1 and 2, you take 4 compulsory courses.

Electives

In study period 2, you also take 10 EC worth of electives. A minimum of 5 EC from the category Electives A is compulsory.

Internship and Master's thesis

In the second semester, you will do an internship and write your thesis. You can only start your graduation trajectory after you have successfully completed at least 25 EC from the first semester.

Part-time programme

The part-time trajectory involves doing the full-time programme in 2 years. This implicates that you take 1 or 2 courses in the first semester (instead of 3).

Exam requirements

In order to complete your Master's programme you will need to meet the exam requirements. You can find the exam requirements in the Education and Examination Regulations.
