Study abroad
In semester 1 of year two you take research seminars and/or tutorials at advanced level. You are strongly advised to complete a substantial part of your coursework in your second year outside the Faculty of Humanities, for instance abroad at other universities in Europe or the US, at other Dutch universities that offer specialised research seminars in their field, or where relevant, by taking part in programmes offered by the Dutch national research institutes. You may take courses, undertake a research project or go on an internship abroad, resulting in a total of 30 credits to take back to Utrecht.
The information provided here, focuses solely on Studying abroad through an exchange programme.
Options for going abroad
If you want to spend some time abroad for your studies, you can study abroad via an exchange programme. You will stay enrolled at Utrecht University and pay your tuition fees here.
You can choose between 2 types of destinations: faculty destinations (where you can study within your own study area) and university-wide destinations (where you can study other study areas). We collaborate with universities around the world.
If you do not want to study abroad for a whole semester, you can also opt to participate in a summer school abroad.
Deadline
The deadline for your application to study abroad is 1 December 2023.
