Complex Systems
Understanding complex systems is essential in tackling real-world challenges in the life sciences. These systems consist of many interacting components, where the behavior of the whole cannot be easily deduced from individual elements. Examples include ecosystems, the brain, epidemics, economic markets, climate systems, and societal networks.
The Complex Systems profile prepares students for a research career by teaching them how to analyze complex life science challenges using modelling approaches. They gain interdisciplinary skills, learn key modelling techniques, and explore system dynamics like transitions and predictability.
⚠ Note: Students enrolled in the Bioinformatics and Biocomplexity programmes are not eligible for this profile.
