The goal of the Environmental Biology programme is to help you develop a deep understanding of how plants, animals, and microbes function — and how they respond to environmental change. Through a combination of fundamental and applied research training, you will study life across multiple levels of biological organization, from genes and cells to organisms, populations, and ecosystems. This approach provides insights into the complexity of life and the dynamics of ecological interactions.

Year 1

Begin your journey with the Life Sciences Academy (1.5 EC). Early on, you will choose one of the programme’s dedicated tracks, which will shape your academic path and research direction throughout the degree:

The course list of this programme consists of compulsory courses (15 EC), dependent on your track choice, and an Elective Component (12 EC).
