SBM students are required to do a Theoretical course of choice (5 EC), which deepens their academic understanding of a life/natural sciences topic, preferably related to their master research project. Students may choose programme related courses from other GSLS master programs or find another course at Utrecht University or externally. Proposed courses have to be life/natural science courses at master level. Courses such as academic writing or advanced statistics are not applicable.

Find a course of your interest and propose it to your programme coordinator; provide a link to the official course description and a justification of relevance to your research interest. After the programme coordinator agrees you can start the course when it’s a course within the GSLS or within the Utrecht University.  When it’s a course outside Utrecht University you also have to ask the board of examiners for permission to use that course to fulfill the requirements to obtaining your degree.
