Courses

The courses below are 7,5 EC (unless indicated otherwise). The period (1/2/3/4) and time slot (A/B/C/D) are stated in parentheses per course, see schedules. You take 15 EC per period from different timeslots. You have to register for courses yourself.

Year 1

In the first year you take four compulsory courses (30 EC) of the general part of the Sustainable Development programme, in which you willl learn about sustainability development theories, issues and research approaches. You take four courses within one of the four tracks (30 EC). The compulsory courses will give you both a theoretical depth in the subject matter and a firm foundation in research methods, techniques and skills. 

Year 2 Cohort 2021 and earlier

In the first and second period of the second year, you continue with the compulsory/elective courses within one of the four tracks. You then do the research components of the general part of the Sustainable Development programme. Namely the case study (7,5 EC), in which you will be working within student research teams. And you will write your final independent Master's thesis (30 EC or 45 EC). A research internship can be part of this final thesis.

Year 2 Cohort 2022

In year two you choose two elective courses. Please read the regulations for selecting elective courses in the Study Guide. You will write your final independent Master's thesis (45 EC). A research internship can be part of this final thesis.
