Joint programme

The courses Policy Research and Advice and Sociology, Theory and Research tackle various aspects of policy and organizational processes from a theoretical and empirical perspective. The course Academic professional covers the whole year and helps develop your professional identity for the job market.

Thematic courses

In the second period you choose three of four thematic courses. You can delve deeper into these themes with a socological lens, and decide to further specialize on one of these themes by completing an internship and thesis on the topic.

Period 2

• Criminology and Safety
• Social Research in a Digital Age
• Climate Crises: Impact and Solutions

Internship and Master's thesis

In periods 3 and 4 you will do an internship and write a Master’s thesis, in which you report your findings from an independently conducted research project. Internship and thesis are closely related, since you will use data obtained during the internship in the thesis, taking a theoretical-empirical approach.
