Electives and research experience

Year two of the SaSR-programme, including the summer break between the first and second year, leaves room for electives. Electives comprise, for instance:

  • additional courses which are part of curricula of other Master's programmes;
  • summer school courses;
  • internships.

Electives are chosen individually, according to the specific needs of each student, and are often related to the Master's thesis project. The aim of the electives is to provide useful additional expertise and work experience for SaSR-students. For more information, consult the respective course manual.

How to enrol in an elective course

  1. Discuss your options with the coordinator of the Elective course. He / she needs to approve the content of the course, and can give you advice in this matter.
  2. Inform yourself on how to enrol in courses you intend to take, and make sure you are enrolled in time. Deadlines and procedures may differ per institute / organisation, so start orientating early on.
  3. Make sure to collect all necessary certificates and provide them to the Elective coordinator. He / she can make sure everything is registered correctly.

Deadline

Do make sure to have all the necessary information and certificates at the Elective course coordinator before April 15. Otherwise problems may occur with graduating.
