Advice to bring your own drinks to Utrecht University remains in force until Thursday 6 November

In Utrecht University buildings, all water pipes are currently being flushed. The aim is to complete this before Thursday so that tap water can be safely consumed again from 6 November onwards.

Do not drink tap water in UU buildings
1 November 2025
At the moment, you should not drink tap water in the Utrecht region, including in buildings of Utrecht University. A bacterium has been detected that can cause illness. It is also unsafe to drink coffee or tea from vending machines.
