Internship

Part of the Master’s Project in periods 3 and 4 is an internship. The internship will usually take place at an external organisation but can also be conducted internally, with one of the researchers at the Department of Interdisciplinary Social Science. Internships can be either practice-oriented or research-oriented.

Possible internship placements

Students conduct their internship at a wide variety of organizations.

Securing an internship position

You are yourself responsible for securing an internship position, and take the lead in your search for an internship. However, we will support you in this search wherever we can, e.g. by actively communicating internship vacancies, connecting you to organizations in our network, and by mentoring and personal advice of a dedicated internship officer.

Internships in other countries

Do you want to intern abroad or in your home country? Each year, there are students who do their internship abroad, for instance in countries like Australia, Germany, Hungary, the UK, the US, and Belgium. Often, we also have a few placements in South Africa with these two organizations:

  • University of Johannesburg, Centre for Social Development in Africa
  • Ndlovu Care Group & Ndlovu Research Consortium, South Africa

Register in OSIRIS

If you want to do an internship abroad, you must register your stay in OSIRIS. More information about the registration procedure can be found on the Study abroad page.
