Graduation
Graduation follows a set procedure. Here you can read exactly which steps you need to take. You can also find out how to apply for postponement or apply for a declaration of graduation.
Step 1: Check whether you meet the graduation requirements
To graduate:
- You must be enrolled at Utrecht University;
- All your results must be registered in OSIRIS;
- You must meet all the requirements of your examinations programme.
Step 2: Approval of the Board of Examiners
If you meet all the requirements of the examinations programme you will receive a graduation message from the Graduation Office on behalf of the Board of Examiners. The graduation message will state that you are allowed to graduate.
Step 3: Receive your diploma
As proof of graduation, you will receive a diploma as well as an International Diploma Supplement (IDS), which contains your courses, grades and average grade. In order to provide insight into your grades for foreign universities, we provide so-called Grading Tables. You can either receive your diploma and IDS during a graduation ceremony or (let someone) pick up your diploma.
What do I need to arrange after graduating?
Once you have received your examination date, you will need to arrange the following:
How to apply for postponement
Do you want to apply for postponement of graduation? Submit a written request to the Board of Examiners (examencommissie.fsw@uu.nl) within two weeks after you have received your graduation e-mail, accompanied by the necessary documentation.
Declaration of graduation
Approximately 4 weeks after your examination date, you can request a proof of graduation from the DUO diploma register that you have obtained your diploma. Your diploma is usually visible in DUO from the second working day after the graduation date, provided the graduation form is processed properly.
