Electives and research experience
Year two of the MSBBSS programme, and in particular the summer break between the first and second year, leaves room for electives.
Electives comprise, for instance, additional courses which are part of curricula of other Master's programmes inside and outside Utrecht University, summer school courses, and internships. Electives are chosen individually, according to the specific needs of each student. The aim of the electives is to provide useful additional expertise and work experience for MSBBSS students.
For more information, consult the respective course manual of the electives.
Halfway the first semester in the first year, the coordinator will inform the students about the different options and students can choose their electives following the procedure:
Enrolment in a predefined track
- The elective coordinator informs the students which courses are part of tracks.
- The student needs to enrol in the predefined courses in due time.
- The student needs to provide the electives coordinator with all the necessary certificates.
- The electives coordinator makes sure everything is registered correctly.
All necessary information, documents, and certificates must be sent to the Elective course coordinator before April 1 of year 2. Otherwise problems may occur with graduating.
Enrolment in an additional course
- The student can choose from a list of courses followed by previous cohorts or a student can search him/herself for a course.
- The electives coordinator needs to approve the content of the course.
- The student needs to enrol in the course in due time.
