What is the FacultyIntroduction?

The FacultyIntroduction is the start of your studies and aims to introduce you to the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences and your study programme. The FI will largely take place on campus this year. You will receive a tour of the Utrecht Science Park and the buildings where you will follow lectures and you will become acquainted with the various faculty facilities. The Faculty Introduction also focuses on the social aspects of studying at this faculty. The programme will be announced on this website and you will also receive an email about the programme.

What do I need during the FacultyIntroduction?

For the parts that you follow online, a laptop / PC with a working microphone and camera is required. And of course a good internet connection.

To participate in the parts on campus, it is useful if you bring the following things:

  • Face mask
  • Pen
  • Lunch (depending on the time you are assigned)
  • A charged laptop
  • Your phone

How do I participate in the digital events?

For the digital components, Microsoft Teams and Grasple (only for students new to the UU) are used.

Microsoft Teams is used to make video calls to each other. In addition to the introduction activities, most of your online lectures and workgroups will also be held via Teams. Read in the manual how to download and use Microsoft Teams. Note: Make sure that you have already completed Parts 1 and 2 before the first part of the FacultyIntroduction, so that you can participate immediately.

Grasple is a tool used for e-modules. In your UU mailbox you will receive a link with an invitation to the area, click on this to get to Grasple. If you have not received or lost this, you can also go to Grasple here. You can log in with your own solis-id and can then go through all different parts of the Faculty Introduction.

Is the FacultyIntroduction compulsory?

The FacultyIntroduction is a compulsory part of your Master's programme. 

Do I have to register myself for the FacultyIntroduction?

No, you are automatically registered for the FacultyIntroduction.

I have not yet received a password for my Solis-id. What should I do?

Don't worry, go to your own study programme on this website for the welcome letters with all the information.

I have not yet received a final admission decision for the master. What should I do?

You can find the conditions before final acceptance in the letter of conditional acceptance that was send by email. You have to meet the conditions 31 August at the latest. If you do not meet this deadline for administrative reasons, please contact as soon as possible.

I'm going to take a few courses at Utrecht University. Can I participate in the FacultyIntroduction?

No, the FacultyIntroduction is only intended for students who register for a full or part-time study at the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences.

I am going to take a minor at the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences. Can I participate in the FacultyIntroduction?

No, the FacultyIntroduction is only intended for students who register for a full or part-time study at the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences.

I have already studied at Utrecht University. Do I still have to follow the FacultyIntroduction?

You only have to follow the program-specific part of the introduction. The university-oriented components via Grasple (guided tour, ICT information) are not necessary.

What if I'm ill?

What if I can’t or don’t want to travel to Utrecht Science Park due to health reasons?

If you cannot follow education on location due to the corona virus, you can get an online alternative. Please note this differs per Master's programme. You will be informed by your study who you can contact for online alternatives. Please find more information on the impact of corona on our education

When will I be registered for courses?

All Master's students are automatically registered for the compulsory courses of block 1. This takes place no later than 31 August.

As soon as you are registered for the courses, you can view your personal schedules in MyTimetable. Before that, you can consult the teaching schedules in the Course Catalogue.

During the FI you will receive an explanation of the different digital systems that Utrecht University uses. For all your other IT questions, please contact the Information and Technology Services (ITS).
