Utrecht University values sporting talent as well as intelligence. Because of that, outstanding athletes who study at Utrecht University can count on special, tailor-made provisions. These include adaptations to their study programme, fitness cards and financial compensation for delays in studies or competitions abroad.
Are you an outstanding athlete?
You are an outstanding athlete if you have acquired one of the following statuses from NOC*NSF: A-status, Promise (Belofte), Bond status (Bondsstatus, since 01-01-2017), High Potential (HP), International Talent (IT), National Talent (NT) and Select Status (Selectiestatus, since 01-01-2017)).
Study the Utrecht University Scheme for Outstanding Student Athletes to check whether you fall into one of the above-mentioned categories and to find out which provisions you are eligible for.
How to obtain outstanding athlete status
In order to be eligible for one or more outstanding athlete provisions at Utrecht University, an assessment must first be made as to whether you are covered by the scheme. In connection with this you can make an appointment with the student counsellor for outstanding athletes, Anne Hamburger, via the Student Services. You should take along evidence from your sports federation or club which shows your status and/or most recent achievements.
Please note: The outstanding athlete status at Utrecht University is, in principle, issued for one academic year. After that you have to apply to the student counsellor for outstanding athletes for a new status and submit evidence. You can also do so by sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
