Internship
During the internship you will gain exposure to the field of clinical child and adolescent psychology, further develop your skills and apply your theoretical knowledge in a practical setting.
Suitable internship
A suitable internship may be completed within a clinical or research/policy setting, either in the Netherlands or your home country (for international students), provided all requirements are met (please check with the Internship Coordinator by email, internshipccap@uu.nl).
Study credits
Depending on its length and your tasks, your internship will be assigned either 15 EC of 20 EC, as determined by the internship coordinator. It is for the internship coordinator to decide how much your internship is worth in EC's. Students who do a 15 EC internship need to combine this with Clinical Skills Lab (5 EC).
Finding an internship
We recommend you start your internship search as early as possible, ideally by February before you start the programme in September. The department provides guidance and support, but students are ultimately responsible for finding and securing a suitable internship position.
Dutch langugage
English-language internships are very scarce in the Netherlands as there are not many Dutch children in the Netherlands that can also speak English. If you do not speak Dutch at a professional level we recommend you look for an internship position abroad.

We strongly recommend attending our internship information meetings as it can be difficult to find a suitable internship position. During these meetings we will inform you about the requirements and possibilities and provide tools that can help you with your search.
