Internship
This programme entails a clinical internship. Note that the large majority of internship institutions require you to speak and write Dutch.
You’ll need to apply for these internships yourself, based on the institutions that are listed in our ‘internship database’. Requests to enter this database are made through internship.ccfes@uu.nl.
You’ll need to have acquired an internship by September 1, when the Master's programme starts. In this internship you will acquire supervised experience of day-to-day practice in the professional workplace and learn to work independently in an academic role as a scientific practitioner.
NVO basic registration in diagnostics
Our programme provides the opportunity to obtain the NVO basic registration in diagnostics (Dutch: NVO Basisaantekening diagnostiek), in order to fulfil the requirements for post master education. Acquiring this registration is possible if the institution where you are going to do your internship allows you to perform diagnostic assessments.
In order to obtain this registration, it is required that you have chosen an internship related to the first specialisation ‘Clinical care and educational provision for children, youth, parents & professionals’. In addition, you must choose the elective course elective course Diagnostic Registration. You will have to write three case reports according to a standardized format, concerning different clients you diagnosed during your internship.
Internship aims
Over a period of eight to ten months (20 ECTS, 560 hours), you will acquire practical experience in an organisation, school or institution on an average of two days a week (incidentally three days, but this is an exception and is only possible if feasible in combination with other parts of the programme).
During the internship, you will learn (to apply) skills such as diagnostics, carrying out treatments and developing policy. The extent to which certain aspects will be part of your tasks will depend on the internship organisation. For example, in a treatment institution, diagnostics is not the main focus, while in an outpatients' clinic, diagnostic examinations will be conducted almost exclusively.
